i have a a7c-133 with raid, and amd 1.2g-c, with win2k prof.

i have been getting unpredicatable lock ups of late with my pc.

these lock ups began about 3 weeks after i built my own pc. the lock ups can occur at any time, ie before bios ram checks, during game play, general browsing. they are totally unpredicable and i have checked the ram and hdd as well as the individual hard ware components. all to no avail!

the bios i have is the basic disc version .....

i've browsed the general forus and the asus site without success.

i am considering a bios update, but i built another pc with the same parts and its running fine......

any help would be much appreciated!

I would re-examine your CMOS settings. Maybe try loading failsafe for a while see if that clears it up?.

Check the temperature also... that will cause irratic errors and even lockups.

Temperature can be a real issue on Athlons over 1 gig, I have a 1.2 and the hardware monitor on my Abit board reports idle temps of around 35c and more importantly max temps of 44c, this is with an outside case ambient of around 20c.
In my experience you will need to fit at least TWO extra 80mm case fans (front bottom & middle rear)
I am in England so it's not a particularly warm climate, but I would say you should be not be seeing anything over 50c unless you live in a very hot climate.
