I have been trying to install a 3Com network card in my system. I have not seen any IRQ / RESOURCE conflicts of any kind. The only hardware that posts a warning in the system menue is the 56K modem I'm using....it reads:
WARNING: IRQ3 is used by another device, please free that resource if you want to use HSP56 Micromodem with DOS application. IN WIndows98 the modem works fine, connects as usual.
The problem is when I install the network card it will hang in the PnP installation causing me to have to reboot (illegal shutdown) then when it trys to reboot after a scan it stalls on the Windows 98 start up splash screen (as if it can't open the network screen, where I enter my username and password for the network). I can reboot in safe mode but I have no idea what changes to make or if any changes are really needed since there are no resource conflicts noted. But my gut instinct tells me there is something...I just don't have a clue what! I had to completely remove the network card before the system would boot. ANy help is appreciated.
