Hi

I have a terratec phase 22 sound card and it is very
unstable and gives a lot of noise and so on when I am
using it while surfing the net.

Now I see that my sound card and network card are on the
same irq could that be the problem?

How can I fix it ?

I just tried moving the card to the lowest slot but it
still gives strange noise when I surf...

I have windows xp home edition
and
kingston 512 mb ram(pc 3200 sdram)
amd axthlon xp 1600 processor
nvidia chipset and
ecs n2u400-a motherboard

Best Regards

XP uses IRQ steering in ACPI compliant systems, and it usually works very well.

I do not think the IRQ is at fault here. There is a shielding issue with the sound card, the speaker cables, or both.

Try moving the speakers farther away from the monitor and system unit if you can.

No I have tried disconnecting the speakers and just
testing it with headphones connected to the sound card
and it sill does the same error

so what can I Do?

Try moving the sound card as far from the video adapter as possible.

I did and it still has the same error

Are you using this driver?
Productversion 5.22e - 16 November 2004
------------------------------
New: Lower latency (1 Buffer less) for ASIO record
Changes:Original-Bit-Button for SPDIF Channel status removed since it had no effect
Bugfix: ASIO record crackle on fast system
Bugfix: Sometimes distortion on Digital-Out
Bugfix: Buffer loop when MME - Application paused on Digital-Out
Bugfix: After using GSIF MME and DirectSound sometimes wasn't available anymore

How can I disable irq 16 in bios so that my cards will

change irq values?

You cannot.
You would have to change the HAL.

Before going this route, do a Google on "terratec phase 22 problems" using both Web and Groups options.

There was enough there to convince me that the solution to your problem is an RMA of the adapter back to Terratec.
