I received a IRC Trojan alert and my computer locked up.  When i tried to restart my computer it simply wouldn't.  1 out of 100 tries it will start up but locks up in less that a couple minutes.  I run XP.  i tried putting in the XP install disc but the computer won't boot from that either!

Do I need to buy a new HD because of this??  I really don't care if I lose all my data, i just want to be able to use my computer!

Please Help!

whoa thats serious, i would take the hardrive out of the case put the jumper on slave on the back of it, put it in a junky computer like this one i am using for emails etc. with nothing to loose its just a surfer cheap one then i would bootup and wipe it out format it in my computer section. i would not put it in a good expensive computer ..

oh if you full installed with xp NTSF you can't maxblast it , it only formats fat 32 or 16. now if it is ntsf format then you have to put it in a machine with xp or 2000 windows as a slave it can only reformat ntsf.

so you took a hammer to it i heard in the xp forum must of been NTSF A!..

yeah, thank you also for your time and energy. Just picked up a drive on ebay for 40 bones. faster and bigger, so life isn't all that bad.

thanks

life is like a box of candy when you eat it slow down and and then enjoy its contents, theres lots of others that want to share that experance also, and see you get the best value out of that expearance, with out extremme counter reactions like taking a hammer to the box of candy that can be saved, i could of bought that harddrive from you for for $ 15.00 and payed for the shipping and you would of prospered and i would have a nice harddrive after reformating it..
