I recently upgraded a BCM3.6 to BCM4.0 and since cannot call it from an OPT11C using IPT3.01 H.323 trunks. I am getting a mandatory IE missing message in the DCH monitor. Has anyone experienced this and have any ideas on how to resolve it?

ARe you using a gatekeeper/NRS? If so , look at the BCM endpoint and see if it registered. It could be that the name changed during the upgrade and you just need to put the new name into the gatekeeper. If no GK, check the name in the trunk card. You may just need to reset the IPT card.

This is an old document of mine that I did when I was trying to get my Lab BCM to work over IP. I seem to remember that the BCM name was very important.

Here it is, but it could be a little out of date now.

BCM to Gatekeeper basic configuration guide

1) Create a H323 alias in Gatekeeper & then program IP address and alias under
"BCM Services IP Telephony H323 trunks".

2) In alias field enter e.g. NAME:H323BCMID
(where H323BCMID is H323 alias you've created in Gatekeeper)!. Make sure
that you use "NAME:" before the alias name!.

3) Change "TTL" field to 30 seconds. Then click on "Services".

4) Highlight H323 Gateway service & in upper dropdowm menu, disable the
service. Then enable it again.
It should register on the Gatekeeper within 60 seconds.

Useful info to remember with BCM configuration programming

1) RAS Port = 1719 (I changed mine to "0" as H323 Trunks failed!).

2) Call Signalling Port = 1720.

3) Select the "Gatekeeper Resolved" or "Gatekeeper Routed" option.

4) Select the "Fall back to circuit" option as disabled.

5) Tick the box against "Forward redirected OLI".

6) Tick the box against "Send name display".

7) Untick the "Remote MNS" box.

8) Tick the "Enable H245 tunnelling" box.

9) Against Gatekeeper protocal, select "CSE".

10) Check that "echo cancellation" is enabled.

11) Against "T38 UDP redunency", use "2".

12) Under "Services" Select "Net Link Manager" & then go to
the "Permanent WAN Connection Setting". Enter the Gateway IP
address in the "Next Hop on Primary Link" field.

BCM Port Information

Port 6800 is used to enable you to access unified manager via Internet explorer.

Also Ports 1718 UDP H.323, 1719 UDP H.323 and 1720 TCP H.323 - Call Signalling.

Direction >> Channel Source Ports Destination Ports COS

i20xx to BCM Signalling 5000 7000 0xA0

i20xx to BCM Media 51000-51200 28000-28511 0xB8

i20xx to i20xx Signalling 5000 7000 0xa0
(between BCM G/W)

i20xx to i20xx Media 51000-51200 51000-51200 0xB8

Note!
The H323 & SIP IP Trunks can cause confusion if the MAX setting = 60
H323 defaults are usually 001 to 030 & SIP defaults are 031 to 060.

To get the Name display working, make sure that you have keycodes for the
"MCDN" package & the sites Business Name is entered under "General Settings"
You can only enter up to 8 characters.

Succession Gatekeeper to BCM configuration basic configuration guide

1) Create a H323 alias in Gatekeeper. Select the "set Standy DB view" first!.
Go to "Configuration" then select "Gateway Endpoints". Configure up your
"Show Gateway Endpoints for (Service Domain / L1 Domain / L0 Domain):".

2) Click on the "Add" button. Against the "Endpoint name" put in your alias name
e.g. "H323BCMID" (Don't use NAME:!).

3) "Endpoint authentication enabled" can be either set to "Authentication off" or
"Not configured".

4) Select "Static endpoint address type" as "IP version 4" & "H.323 Support" as
"RAS H.323 endpoint". I had the "Network Connection Server enabled" ticked.

5) Save the setting. Go to "Configuration" then select "Routing Entries".
Use "lookup" or enter under "Gateway Endpoint" your H323 alias name
e.g. "H323BCMID" & select the "Add" button to enter in a DN entry for that site.
I use the "DN type" box to select "Private level 0 regional(CDP steering code)".
The "DN prefix" is the DN range that you are going to use.
i.e. digit "2" for DN's 2xxx.
I normally enter in "1" on the "Route cost (1 -255)" box. Click on "Save".

6) Go to "Tools" and then select "Database Actions". Select "Roll over and Commit"
to activate the changes made. Wait a minute before attempting to make calls.

All the best
