tried to install an ipsi card on a cm2 s8500l. Installed server no problem. plugged ipsi card, reset within 5 secs, assigned static ip address subnet and gateway and exit properly. Ping ipsi worked for about 1 min and then the ip address in the ipsi disappears. go back into the ipsi and only the ip address is bvack to default. any ideas ? the only thing is that i forgot to press the reset button within 5 second the first time round and did actually assign the ip address, but i realised and pulled the card out and started again. could this have corrupted the card ?

Did you erase the IP and try again? Reseat it and try again.

In the future everything will work...

In a multi connect you have to push the reset. Not in the ip enviroment. You can unseat the card and reseat it. This will clear the card.

Do not push the reset in an IP solution, only push it for Multi connect.

It sounds like when you missed it the first time you didnt clear the default IP...the first 5 sec.

In the future everything will work...

i have pull the card out and put it back and reset the card within 5 secs and still the ip address does not stay for than 1 min

the solution is s8500 IP connect cm2. Everytime I assign the address, it loses the configuration after 1 min. But the wierd this is that even though I can ping the IP on its new ip address for a short while, in the front, the LED shows that it has not been assigned with an IP address - (dot missing in the down arrow). Really lost here...

Login to IPSI from services port, assign IP address, then exit normaly, login to IPSI again and reset it. That should solve your problem

I have seen this, the IPSI might not keep the IP address if you do not exit and then login again and reset it from the services interface.

did you configure the ipsi to "A01" using the button on the front of the card? If so set it to "A00" and then configure the ipsi card via a telnet session.

hopefully this will solve your problem

If you statically address the ipsi jaymzter is right you should see IP on the display. If it is a TN2312BP make sure your speed and duplex settings are set to 100 full on the ehternet port. The TN2312bp is more sensitive than the AP to those kind of settings.

thanks. i had to do what "lifeisloud" said, set it to A00 as it was already on A01. All working now.
