I've been having issues with a customer with a gate system not recognizing DTMF digits sent by their IPoffice.

Doing a little testing I'm finding that systems running 9.x will send DTMF tone as long as you hold down a button.
Systems running 10.x only send a short little burst of DTMF.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's an analog trunk, PRI, or even calling one extension to another on the same system.

This reminds me a lot of the old Nortel days when you could turn "long tones" on.

Anybody run into this?

With a colleague in another office we tested this out on 3 systems running 10.0.0.3, and two running 9.0.3.0.

The 10.x systems both just give a chirp, but the 9.x systems work as I'd expect.

Waiting to hear back from Avaya support now

Well both are wrong as DTMF digits are supposed to be a short fixed length - neither chirp or continuous.

For analog trunks you can adjust the settings. For others I don't know, but you were pretty poor is describing what the connection to the gate system was.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I've already tried playing with the dtmf on/off times including maxing them out. They don't seem to effect the tone length in a call, but during dialing. (You can hear this if you monitor the line with a test set while it dials)

Sorry I didn't go into too much detail. I don't have any information on the gate system, but it's not connected to the phone system. It has it's own pots line that it dials into the main business line from. (Like any other outside call coming in). The receptionist answers it and can talk to the customer at the gate. She presses 9 and the gate should open. I can bridge in with a test set prior to the phone system, answer, hit 9 and it works every time.

I can also clip on to the line right at the gate and hear the dtmf tones. They are present, just very brief.
