I have a IP Office 406 bing used with a PRI. The local Telco has a DMS500. I am wondering why that NI-2 protocal is not supported in Canada? The local Telco does not have Ni-2 protocol on teh DMS500 beacuse of teh last statement. I can not get the caller id (name/number) to work as the 406 is configured for NI-2.

Any Ideas?

thanks

Outgoing has the main billing number. Telco says NI-1 software will not pickup the extension numbers on the PRI while teh PBC is set up using NI-2.

Incoming is just number that is seen and no name.

Here is a quote from the local TElco, no company name.

"Telco will send out the DID # / Internal Name on a PRI. Most of our PRI's are doing this now. What we do not support is leaving the billing number off the PRI when the DID # is not sent out by the PBX. However, on a PBX where the customer is setup as NI-2, the DID may not pass and the caller name never will. Telco has to display a phone #, and the default phone # is ###-####, our billing # for the PRI.

The PBX can dictate what get sent out. The DID # and/ or name will pass from your PBX to our PRI and through our switch (DMS500). 9only if you use Ni-2."

I have been told that NI-2 on a PRI using a DMS500 is not supported in Canada.

I have had the same issue with BellSouth in the past. There is an easier way: Set all of your incoming call routes as -ixxxxxxxxxx (eg -i6155551234) for the inbound number. The BellSouth switch will accept this format as NI2.

Good Luck,
Frank
