Hello, I am looking for anyone who has seen an issue of a reboot due to ABNORMAL TERMINATION. I turned sysmon on, so I have something to go on, and it looks as though it captured my problem. Now, I can't find any info on this. I am about to open a ticket with Avaya, but wanted to check here first. The last reading states "PRN: Pipe Send too big 583"... then it rebooted. It has done this 3 times in several weeks...middle of day, tv station. Any info would be great. Thanks

In older releases all appearances must be programmed in one row.
I believe this was not needed anymore but i am not sure from which release (I think 6.1)
I think trying to program in one row instead of on the BM12 should do the trick.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

We also have this exact release with 9508 series sets everywhere. We are using a PRI and the embedded VM until we network all sites together later this year. Our system reboots about every other week and now it is rebooting once a week. We have a UPS on the system with other servers and the IP Office is the only thing that goes down. The good news is that it is back up within about 10 minutes like nothing ever happened.

Are we thinking that this is a software issue and not a hardware issue? I stock cabinets and I was thinking about going and replacing the cabinet and grounding the system while we are on-site.

@RichmondTelecom....We replaced the Chassis, the PRI Card, and all the expansion modules... Still Reboots.

Its on a UPS, its grounded to the Telecom Demarcation Ground...Still reboots.

We checked the PRI, NO Bridged Apperances anywhere on the system. No MOH files. Still reboots.

I even did a DTE port maintenance reset, then loaded the R8 files diectly,(not upgrading from 7 to 8), and reprogrammed the entire system by hand. Still Reboots.

One site reboots about every 3 weeks. The other site reboots every single day at 6:18 am in the morning. Luckily the client is not there at that time, but this can't be good.

What a nightmare!
If this continues, I am afraid to sell another IP Office.
What a major disapointment. This costs me MONEY!

If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.

We had the same issue on a system that was randomly rebooting, during that time period we were lucky enough to have another system that we were about to deploy, we swapped the controller unit, combo cards, ATMS, everything and it was still rebooting and acting funny, and finally the only thing we had not swapped was the SD card and when we swapped it the problems on the "bad" controller unit went away and the symptoms started to show up on the other system as it started to act funny...we then proceeded to format and erase the original SD card, re-load R7 and that did it...no more reboots or acting funny and the system has been up and running ever since....hope this helps.

Damn those SD cards, willing to bet it's a Sandisk one :)

Common!!!

This is taking to long! Open the Sysmon tool connect it to the IPO (Ctrl+U) Now open the filter (Ctrl+T) set it to default (bottom left) and press OK. Then press Ctrl+L to start logging it to a file.

Tick Every 'n' Hours
Tick Log to file
Select the path and give the file a name.
Press OK.

Now wait.....when the system goes down post the log file here or send it to AVAYA!

Mine works, but it ook T3 having T$ build a patch for me. Get them involved and it will get fixed quickly.

incidentally.. show of "hands" here, who does a full format SD card, then recreate SD Card at the start?
I've done this as a matter of course since the SD cards came out, as we had major majors with the known problems of cfg not being written to the card etc, and local advice was a clean slate.
Thankfully we haven't had any rebooting IP500v2 ever...
I'm not confident of not doing it, so I let it recreate while i build the system and unbox phones etc... and grab a cuppa.

Cheers,

Chris

Yeah, same here Chris, they reckon they fixed it but I don't trust them. Same as stepping Dig units through 3.2.999 they say you don't need to and V2's auto upgrade them by default but I always take them back down to 3.2.999 and then back up, it's not worth the risk :)

I always do it, it is literally 10 seconds extra work.
The recreate can take a while but then i just grab some coffee.

I also do a format and re-create on every system. (99% of the time the SD card version it shipped with.. is not the one I want anyways.)

Since I only install in the USA and customers use english, I edit the filelist text file in the Manager directory and do not load up every language folder for the embedded voicemail files, just en, and enu folders. This cuts the time it takes to recreate a card down significantly. The process to reformat and recreate a new SD card only takes about 5 minutes tops.

Oh and don't use the older sandisk cards. :)
