IPOFFICE 500

I noticed we have 2 LAN IPs configured where the 2nd LAN is not being used.

Is it possible to configure our 1608/9620 phones to use this 2nd IP as a backup so that if the primary LAN fails, ALL phones will go through the 2nd LAN in order to communicate to IPOFFICE?

I hope this is clear.

only if you use 2 different network ranges for them otherwise you get into trouble with network connections not knowing where they want to connect to.
I would however not do it that way either as it is not meant for failover, failover is meant to connect to another processor when the first one fails.

Indeed, even in different ranges the 2 LAN ports sitting on the same network causes oddness, also if the LAN port fails 99.99% of the time it's because the system has too :)

if the connection to the IPO fails 99% of the time it is not the IPO but the customers network, having a 2d port would be no use in these circumstances even if it could be configured (which I doubt)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

These 2 LANs are on the same subnet but connected/wired differently.

for example:
LAN 1: 192.60.5.1
LAN 2: 192.60.5.5

Obviously not connected on the same switch, etc..

LAN 1 fails (for whatever reason)

Phones will then route to LAN 2.

Is this possible?

Do not do this!
It has been said before and still you want to do it.

Most problems on IP Office is not because of the system but are made by the ones installing/maintaining the system.
This is a typical example of that statement!

A simple mind delivers great solutions

Indeed, been there done that (as a test)
It does not work at all.
It even makes the IPO being unresponsive as it does not know where to route the traffic.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Understood. I just really wanted to understand the situation.

Thank you very much for all your input

You better get a second IPO with SCN and use the fallback option.
But mostly, as said already, you will have bigger problems when you have no lan :)
