Following the advice on this earlier thread :
I have finally got a Nano connected to the BCM50 to use as a on hold player. It is playing our 'on-hold' music on repeat, however, I can't hear anything when on hold.

Anyone know why this might be? Tried it with both a mono and stereo 3.5mm jack to jack lead.

Should this definitely work?

Telephony/Global Settings/Feature Settings:
On hold:MUSIC
Do you check this?

There is not enough power output from your nano to drive the music on hold. You need something large enough to to at least drive a speaker.

are you using the 3.5mm plug or connecting through the amphenol? make sure you don't have something on both :)

That Nano should work with no problem. I hope when you're testing for music on hold that you are calling out and back in because placing internal calls on hold will not play the music.

Your best bet when testing is to turn background music on at a nearby set and check it that way and as seryozha says, make sure you're connecting it properly (it needs to be a mono jack too) and that you have the music on hold source set to music.

If you're connecting it to the amphenol, MOH input is on pair 13.

Has anyone here actually used an ipod for MOH because I have tried multiple times to use IPOD's and walkmans and neither one worked without some kind of external amplifier to boost the output up to a usable level.

BCM50a R1, upgraded to R3.
Apple iPod 160GB.
Connected using standard cable with 3.5mm headphone plug on both ends, from ipod to the 3.5mm jack on the BCM50 unit

(not using the amphenol connector).

It worked as soon as I changed the music source from "Music Manager" (which was working fine) to "Audio Jack".

With the ipod at full volume, the music is only about the right volume when the caller hears it. I don't know why

this is, and maybe it's related to your problem.

Do you get any output when you use F86 on a digital phone? When I try this, the volume is quite high and I have to

turn it down to get to the level that a caller would hear.

Hello all, thanks for the responses. Here are my answers:

morenot - yes that is currently selected (Telephony/Global Settings/Feature Settings: On hold:MUSIC)

seryozha - I'm connecting through 3.5 (tried a mono and stereo lead)

telcodog - yes, I am calling in with a mobile phone, getting someone to answer and then put me on hold - don't hear a thing!

Frideo - I can't find a setting in the BCM-50 that lets me select 'Audio Jack' - where exactly is that located?

I'm now suspecting, as others have mentioned that perhaps this isn't possible without additional hardware :(

Many times when connecting music sources I've had to do a reboot on the system after connecting the source to the ksu.

Sorry for the delay.
The setting for Audio Jack is in

Configuration - Applications - Music.
There's a drop-down list of
Music Manager
Audio Jack
Streaming Server

Ah, this could be the problem - I don't have that setting. Under Configuration > Applications, I only have 'Voice Messaging/Call Centre' and 'LAN CTE'.

I take it our BCM must be running older software?

Check to insure music is playing from your music source and your lead is good by listening with a butt set at the end of the wire lead before plugging it into the bcm.
