I have been asked to connect an IPO 500 with a Panasonic PBX KXTDA 100 through ISDN BRI tie trunk. Has anyone any experience on the above? Do you think it is possible?
I have never heard of using BRI ISDN for tie trunking, but I suppose it is possible if the options are available to facilitate that type of connection. You might post in the Panasonic forum, and see what kind of response you get for the TDA100.
As far as the IPO500 is concerned I don't recall seeing that listed in the documentation, but then again, there is a lot of documentation on the IPO, and I have only read a small portion so far...
Thanks for the asnwer. Answering my own question, i think it is not possible, because there is no qsig option on the bri line in IPO. Only etsi and S bus. I asked because the TDA100 is already connected to another PANASONIC KXTDA200. The connection between them is established through BRI cards and qsig. At least that is what the IT guys told me. I will follow your suggestion and start a thread on the PANASONIC forum.
I am sure you can get it to "work" i.e. be able to ring handset to handset - with perseverance.
QSIG is a private link protocol, but there is no reason why you couldn't do a ETSI link.
What features you would get I don't know, but at a guess all calls to the TDA100 would appear like external calls (and whether that is acceptable...) and you'd have to use ARS on the TDA100 to route calls back.
But I have to ask - why would you (or a customer) want to do this?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
i do this on nearly every system, for testing pbxs without connecting isdn. you set 1 side to be an s-bus and the other normal Bri. the sbus is an extension on local system so when you call it the ICR of other system will treat call like normal incoming line. ON the other system they select the Tie line and can dial any extension. To achieve extension to extension you would need
s-bus to bri
bri to sbus
alternatively you can use FNE on Avaya to give dial tone back to Panasonic where they could then dial any extension.
