Hi everyone
I have a customer that wants to have a remote user. Scenario:

main office: ipo500v2 R7
remote home: user with laptop with vpn office,9640 phone, router of the local internet provider (2Wire).

The user in his home wants to connect the 9640 to the 2Wire.
No cisco, juniper or avaya router.

What do I need to do?
Do I need to have running a firmware on MVIPTEL or something?

thnks very very much

You need a supported router at the IPO site or a VPN tunnel between two routers.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I have used a Cisco Pix501 behind 406v2, and 500 with 9630 VPN Phone with great success.

Didn't you say he has a laptop with vpn?
What for is this vpn? Why not use the softphone?
Both the video softphone and the vpn phone just need a vpn endpoint to the customers LAN, whereas the softphone may be easier to deploy.

9630 on a 406v2?

are you sure?

You gave me two options, I have a supported Cisco router in the IPO site. If I chose this option, Do I only need 1 router?

I remember that someone told me that has the firmware running in mviptel in a server in IPO SITE, and that enable the vpn to the remote 9640.

Albus2 (Programmer):
He doesn´t want to use the softphone, cuz he has windows 7 and says thay the softphone is very unstable. And he is right,I tested softphone in win xp and works great, with 7 no.

thnks!

mviptel is just a file server, it does not have anything to do with VPN tunnels. You can make the 96 handset create a VPN to the Cisco router if you want :)

Yes, I know. I use MVIPTEL for the upgrades.
But this person told me that has running an specific firmware for the vpn, and if the server goes down, the vpn goes too.

I use Win7 and the softphone and it works great.
Win7 is supported and should not give any issues.

If the VPN requires mviptrlmto be constantly running it has been configured by an idiot or someone who doesn't know what they are doing, I can't imagine how it could be related :)
