so going to get on the phone with avaya tomorrow but wanted to pop in here first

connected a bcm 450 to a ipo 8.044 this weekend

The ipo should be able to dial out over bcm over an mpls network
also need to be able to 4 digit dial between sites

i am able to 4 digit dial from bcm to ipo
i am also able to dial out from ipo over bcm

but i cannot 4 digit dial from ipo to bcm

destination codes i verified in docs
target lines are programmed in bcm
something is blocking it

anyone have any ideas?

trace the trunk and see if teh IPO sends out hte 4 digits or not, if yes problem in incoming routing of BCM if not IPO doesn't route out the trunk (need shortcode for that)
IPO shortcode should be
2xxx (assuming 2000 - 2999 extensions in BCM)
dial (or dial3k1)
2N
outgoing line ID of IP trunk

in the BCM I am sorry I can't tell you but poke around in the trunk that is setup to the IPO.

the docs say the shortcode should be

2N;
Dial
2N
line id

you are saying to change the code to

2XX?

Indeed make it like this:

2XXX
dial
2N
Line id trunk.

What type of trunk is it?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You can't connect an IP Office to a BCM over H323. Only SIP trunks are supported.

Tipster and westi

It is a sip trunk indeed

I made the short code
2XX (they have 3 digit extensions)
Dial
2N
Line Id

Still no dice

this is what i get when tracing the trunk

Make a monitor trace.
But it id trying to call 200 on 192.168.0.27 from 608 at 192.168.0.27 (same device!!!)

how is that possible?

did i mention the ipo can dial out over the bcm no problem??

something weird is going on

so found the issue
it was in the bcm so ipo junkies probably wont care but for fellow bcm techs

i had to program the target lines to public rec not private like you would for regular bcm to bcm 4 digit dialing

thanks guys

Did you build target lines on the BCM that match the digits the IPO is sending? Poor mans way to test that theory is to set the prime set on the BCM IP trunks to any valid extension on the BCM. Dial a 4 digit extension and the prime set should ring. If that works, then build target lines and put the 4 digit extension in the publci received number field, then assign that target line to the appropriate set. Repeat for each extension on the system.
