Hello,

My configuration:
I am using the Avaya IP Office small office edition with the latest software version 4.2(11) 6.2 version of IP Office Manager. I have an embedded voicemail option/card which is used for voicemail and for the auto attendant(s).

My question:
I am trying to replace the standard auto attendant messages with new onces I had professionally recorded as WAV files (with the right specs for the wave files), but it seems that I cannot store these files on the embedded voicemail card in the right format. My telecom provider says that I can only record the auto attendant messages through a phone by dailing e.g. *8101 or *8201 etc.

I can generate .c23 files with the audio conversion tool and place them on the flash card, but I need files with a .clp extention (see screenshot for an example at but cannot find anywhere information on how to get a file into that format.

Would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Sincerely yours,

Sjoerd Jan ter Welle

Additional information related to release 4.2 which I found in the embedded voicemail manual which relates to the .clp files:

What's New in IP Office 4.2
In Avaya IP Office 4.2, the following features were added to Embedded Voicemail operation:
· Cantonese Prompt Support
Cantonese Chinese prompts are now supported. They will be used for the system or user Locale set to Hong Kong
(Cantonese).
· Forward a message or message alert to Email
Users can use the voicemail email features of IP Office. This allows then to forward a message as an attachment to
their email address via an SMTP email server. In addition, for each new voicemail message they can chose to either
receive an email alert or have the message forwarded.
· Embedded File Management
The file contents of the Embedded Voicemail memory card can be viewed and managed through IP Office Manager.
Select File | Advanced | Embedded File Management. The discovery dialog will then show only systems that can
support memory cards. Once the contents of the card in a system are shown, new files can be dragged onto the card
and existing files can be deleted or downloaded off the card. The creation and deletion of folders is not possible.

-->>>> · Message and mailbox prompt files in .clp format are protected and cannot be deleted or overwritten.
· Other file type such as bin files for phones can be placed onto the card and then be deleted or downloaded.

What to do? I need to replace the default prompt for morning, afternoon etc. auto attendant messages.

There is a tool provided with Manager for converting wav files to the correct .clp format specificall for this requirement. You then copy the resulting wav to the /LVMAIL/AAG folder on the card and in the Auto Attendant settings you specify a greeting name rather than using the short codes to record a greeting.

Look at:

I used the LVM greeting utility, but somehow I keep getting error messages when using the tool on the audio files which are really in the correct format. I am using the LVM tool under Vista, which might be the problem. I have the original wave files available here:
Maybe I made a mistake.

I have 2 auto attendants: one for Bright55 (B-files) and one for Accento (ACC-files). The files are named for the morning, afternoon, evening prompt and the menu.

Any suggestion or tip would be welcome. It seems my Avaya telecom provider is stuck and does not know.

Anyone has an idea why the LVM greeting utility would work ok on one Windows configuration and not on another? The same WAV file will convert OK on one of the notebooks of my telecom provider but not on another and also not on mine.

As far as I understand it now the filename should be 8 characters max long with .c23 as extension (vor IPO small business edition) and I should give it a name.

That name is then stored inside the file with .c23 extension and stored in the right subdirectory on the flashcard and in IP Office Manager you link to this file (instead of the default recordings on the card) by typing in the name you used when saving/converting the file. Right?

Any way to figure out what the name was used when converting the files afterwards?

Anyone that can check if the audiofiles uploaded are OK. I cannot get them to work on my notebook.

I tried to open your file but it is broken and winrar can not repair it

Hello tlpeter: so you are with XS4ALL as well. To me they seem like a good provider. We are using SIP with 3 IPO's of which two here in NL and one in Romania. Dail out is done through XS4ALL with a fallback to KPN ISDN if SIP out for one or the other reason is not working (best effort service of XS4ALL).

Greetings from Doesburg, NL

I can not convert the file because i can not use the soundrecorder in xp at the moment
That soundrecorder then put it in the right format and use manager and the tool to get it in the right format

I don't know if you read this already ?

LVMGreeting Conversion Utility
6.1.xx.xx

Introduction

The LVMGreeting utility is used to convert greetings recorded in the appropriate .WAV format audio files into specific g.711 and g.723 formats with recording labels suitable for use with the IP Office embedded Auto Attendant.

LVMGreeting is a Windows based console application that is intended to be invoked from Manager or the command line using command line parameters that direct the conversion activity.
Supported .wav files
The wav files that can be converted are checked by the LVMGreeting utility to ensure that they are of the following format:

• Single channel (i.e. Mono)
• Files must be correctly formatted with the RIFF, WAVE and fmt fields in the headers.
• The format tag must indicate PCM/Uncompressed format.
• The sample rate must be 8000 samples/sec.
• Sampling must be 16 bits/sample.
Command Line format
The format of the command line is as follows:

LVMGREETING /convert:”filename.wav” “mailboxName” “recordingName” format “filename.cxx” “error.log”

The Command Line parameters are as follows:
Parameter Notes
filename.wav The input .WAV filename.
mailboxName “Auto Attendant”
recordingName The recording Label.
Format “G711” or “G723”.
“filename.cxx”
Output filename The output greeting file.
Recommended to be filename.C11 for G711 and filename.C23 for G723
“output.log” Text output log file indicating success or errors.
Return value OK
If any of the above parameters contain spaces then enclose it in double quotes, for example “my long file.wav”, “my name with spaces”.
IP Office Manager Invocation
Manager will support invoking this utility. See the IP Office Manager help file for details.

The files are allready converted to 8000 Hz, mono WAV files, so you don't need another sound tool. The files should be ready to convert. I did the conversion myself and resampled them to the exact specs.

Yes, I read the information and used the LVMGreeting tool. On my Vista machine it gives errors. The same source WAV file on the notebook of my Avaya telecom provider gives no errors when converting to .c23 files using the LVMGreeting tool.

Did you get any error messages feeding the WAV files I provided to the LVMGreeting tool?

The tool does not work for me at this moment.
I am trying Windows 7

Are you sure sjjan, that tool (LVM) does not convert wavs into clp but into c23 or c11 !

Yes, it converts to c23 files for the small business IPO's we have. Then you store the files in the /LVMAIL/AAG folder on the flash card and call on the stored names in IP office manager and voila.

hibroth: yes: I was confused as first but the .clp files are the default files which as of version 4.2 cannot be deleted from the embedded voicemail card anymore. To play the .c23 files you direct the IPO to the files stored in the /LVMAIL/AAG directory. This is done by typing in the name of the file (not the file name but the name given while converting to .c23 files in the LVM tool) in the auto attendent settings. Then IPO will take the .c23 files instead of the default .clp files. So, there is nothing to override.
