Hi All

I have installed an analog phone 2 card and upon boot up i see that i have two more extensions. Unfortunately, there is nothing showing under lines. Do i have to build these manually? I thought IPO would detect the card and have the lines availalble? Do i have the wrong card and these are not true trunk ports?

Sorry if this is a stupid question and thanks as always for your help

It isn't a trunk card. So no extra lines.

It is a phone card, meant to connect two extra analog extensions, fax, modem etc..

Thanks. I just realized that and smacked my face a little for being so stupid. So i need an analog trunk card....

Yes, an ATM4 card, that sits on top of your current card and uses the last 4 ports :)

Don't worry Chitownbrit. you're not that stupid..

Okay, maybe a little bit then [bigsmile]

In my defense i told my Avaya HW dealer that i brought in two analog lines as a backup to my SIP trunk and he recommended this card!

After installing it and writing this post i figured it out. I jsut figured it out after hitting the 'submit post' button

I did have a drink last night, that didnt help

You needed a base card anyway so it's no loss. Whenever I need a base card I always get a phone 2 as it is the cheapest.

Thanks pmcook. We did figure that out too. Not too much of a loss i guess.

i have an IPO 500 and 6.0 and the site im buying from says i should have a minimum 6.1. I feel like they are covering their bases and that the min requirements for this card is 4.0 and higher.

I do have a base card already okkie but also have a pri daughter card that i need to install

Then your HW deal probably had more drinks than you[smile]

Some setup you got there, SIP, PRI and Analog trunks...Wouldn't the PRI alone be enough back up?
Real ISDN lines are rock solid.

If you even think of buying an upgrade, you go straight for a R8.1 or R9.0 license.

And btw, the cheapest base card is VCM32v2, but you need to move above R8.0 for the VCM part to work.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I see the V2 is the cheapest card is but not the V1. Glad to know this.

Just in reply to Gunnar, im getting rid of the SIP and putting in a true PRI. Have had 5 years of call routing hell with Windstream. It all came to a head two weeks ago. Was down for 3 whole days because of a busted router at a central office. They tried to blame it on the wiring in the riser management and also ATT inside the building. Ive had enough. No more SIP. True ISDN as you say with 2 analog lines as a backup. Thanks all.
