IPO 3.2(17) with 510SW phones at a remote location using a VPN. Secure Computing routers are being used at both ends. Every morning when then come into work and at a random time of the day the phones will say Discover 192.xxx.xx.xx. The client has to unplug and replug the phone in and the phone will work great until later that day or the next morning. The ip address is that of the IPO. Tech support says it could be a firewall issue or router issue. There is no firewall in place. The IT person that installed the routers assures me that they are okay. The above scenario is using two different Internet providers. We installed a phone at another location using the same providers for both ends and it worked great. The different provider is of course denying any issues on their end. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

This only happens if the network connection goes down for more then two minutes.

NIHIL NOVI SUB SOLE

Would that mean a router issue on the remote end? Wouldn't the phone say No Ethernet if the network goes down?

If the phone indicates "Discovering ...", it means the phone is searching for the PBX, although the router is visible. I think you lost the VPN connection, you should verify it before unplug and replug the phone. While your phone keeps connection to the ethernet switch, you will never see "No Ethernet" message.
Regards.

are the remote phones & main office on static ip addresses or dynamic?

The phones have static IPs. What would cause the VPN to go down? Thanks.
