Doing a new install on a 500v2 with Avaya J139 telephones running 11.0.4.0.0 build 74.

Had to prove a network issue which has put a pinch on the install date.

Does anyone have any experience with this install, and if using the 500v2 as the DHCP and HTTP file server do you still need to mess with the 46xx system files?

I have the installing SIP on IP Office 11.0 documentation.

Just looking for experience and any prudent tips.

If I still need to change the 46xx files detailed info on this process would be appreciated.

I get a little nervous messing with system files.

Thanks,
Mo

What issue? You talk about an issue, ask for help and then don't say what the issue is!

In general these days the recommendation is to leave the 46xxsettings.txt file alone and put any site customisations into a 46xxspecials.txt file.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

The network issue was with VLANs from another vendor. I am sure you have experienced another vendor telling you the network is ready but you can't ping the server from a phone...

I followed the "SIP Telephone Installation Notes" and used the "Simple Installation" process and everything went fine.

We did have a few phones that were stuck in "acquiring service," we defaulted again and they eventually came up.

We did not change or edit any system files.

This is an option 242 issue. Make sure you input the VLAN ID into the option 242 string.

Test this by entering in all IP, subnet, gateway, router, http server, sip domain, port and VLAN ID manually on 1 phone. It should register.

Also editing 46xxsettings.txt is not needed for this scenario
