Hello All,

We're using the standard edition of IPO 500 and getting close to running out of available extensions. Since we're using analog trunks for our incoming/outgoing lines, we have an analog trunk card attached to an analog phone 8 card and a VCM card.

We're using IP phones exclusively, so I wanted to know if there is a way to tell the control unit to disable the 8 extensions it takes up to accommodate the phone 8 card (thus giving us 8 more extensions to work with). Otherwise, the following are my alternatives:

* Upgrade to the Professional License
* Use analog phones for the remaining extensions

Am I missing something simple as a configuration setting to fix this problem?

Thanks for any assistance you can offer!

Have a great day!

chris

Hmm..upgrade is that something you have to pay for or can you rollup for free?

Thanks for the suggestion!

chris

You're not going to be able to program the system to disable those analog ports. The best option is to upgrade to professional Of course the least expensive option is to utilize some analog phones until you want to go Pro.

You could also replace the Phone 8 with a Phone 2 and that'll give you space for 6 more IP Phones.

I'm pretty sure you need the Preferred license (similar to Pro License for R4) with R5 to go to 381 stations.

bzbee, upgrading to R5 will not cost you a penny, just download the software and upgrade it ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/SoftwarePub/5_0GA_Builds/ADMIN/ADMIN5_0_15.exe :)

So, even if I upgrade to Version 5, I'll need to purchase a license of some sort to allow me to have more than 32 extensions?

No, R5 you can go all the way to full without anything more than the hardware costs and VCM channels of course..no Pro licence required and all your licences carry forward too :)

Be aware though, if you have one by upgrading you may void your maintenance contract depending how it's written :)

I didn't know that. So, you can have essential and 381 stations (with embedded vm)?

So why would anyone purchase a Pro License if they can upgrade and get the needed benefit? OK, I'll quit pestering y'all with questions and will do some research.

Final question, can you easily roll back from 5.0 to the previous version (say I got to 5.0 land and realized that it's more headache than help)?

Thanks all!

chris

Indeed you can :)

Nobody does buy that licence anymore unless they are ill informed or being fleeced, and yes you can go back very easily :)

Andy, you give a link to 5.0.15 instead of 5.0.18 my dear :)

And al people who tell how many extension you can have, it is not 380 or 381 it is 384!
