IPO 406 PCS 08 cant upgrade to 4.0? 2

Hi all,

Just trying to upgrade a IPO 406 (not sure if V2) to 4.0 but it wont let me. I am currently on 3.2.54 and anything else i tried is grayed out

I checked on the bottom Sticker and it says:

IPO OFFICE 406 PCS08

Anyone knows the problem? Thanks,

Does it have ds ports on the front or no ports at all ?
If it has then you have a v2 if not you have a v1 and you can not go to 4.x

OK, found the reason why -- I bricked this unit before and just found out by opening it that my AVAYA supplier swapped the PCB during the last repair for me. The sticker on casing is PCS 08 (ok for v4) but the inside PCB is a PCS 07 which isnt comptible for V4.

Thanks tlpeter for the reply however Version 4 CAN be imstalled on a IP406 V1 if the PCS revision is 08.

Version 4 will not go on a v1 406, tlpeter is correct in what he says (as normal!!!). You can try but the .bin file doesn't exist.

Why would they swap just the PCB??? It's easier to swap the box!!!

Even PCS 7 can be on 4.x
Only there are two version off PCS 7 !
There are 16MB and 64MB versions
It started with PCS 7
To be sure Avaya says you need to have a PCS 8 !

I was wold that providing you can live without the unit Avaya will upgrade to allow you to take it to v4.x.

This was when I was at a course recently.

NO! 406 V1 can not go to V4. Only a 406 V2 can and thats what tlpeter was referring to when he was talking about the two different PCS7's and a PCS8.

IPO 406 V1 to 4.0 - NO!!
IPO 406 V2 PCS 7 16mb to 4.0 - NO!
IPO 406 V2 PCS 7 64mb to 4.0 - YES!
IPO 406 V2 PCS 8 to 4.0 - YES!!

Avaya wil upgrade IP406v2 Office units with 16MB memeory (most PCS07 and lower) to 64MB for free (you have to pay the carriage) by sending the unit away for the upgrade to be done.

These units can have s/w 4.0+
IP412
IP406v2
IP401 Small Office Edition

These units can only go upto s/w 3.2
IP406v1
IP403

This unit can only go upto s/w 2.1
IP401

I thought 406v2 with early PCS levels where a problem as well. I have had to upgrade two V2's and get them upgraded.

I am sure this was PCSv6 and 7 and they again needed to be 8?

PCS 6 with a 406v2 is impossible !!!
PCS 7 could be possible but it must be a 64MB version !

Maybe the PCS 6 was a repaired one ?

Well I had three of these this year to upgrade, all went to the potters bar crew for upgrade and I had to swap them out as they would not upgrade to 4 and from memory these were PCS level issues (I mught be wrong about were on!) and they were definatly 406v2 processors but very early into the launch from V1 to V2 only a few weeks apart as I recall.

I'm curious now so will dig out the returns paperwork to remind myself why we had to send them back and let you know just to be sure!
