i'm new to Avaya. i installed the vm per install documents. i noticed that the docs mentioned that on 3.0 or higher, they come pre loaded with the s/w.

do i still need to upgrade the vm, or am i missing something basic?

never installed one, but I think you might need to load the prompts.

I think they are supposed to be there but sometimes not.

just a thought.

There is a doc on the Avaya web-site tech tips section that goes over how to load the voice prompts for the embedded voicemail. They are supposed to be loaded, but it goes over how to if they haven't been. It also has a version number to check to see if your vm should have the prompts already on it. Below is the link:

I've installed a couple, since 3.0 I've not had to do anything to a new Avaya supplied flashcard, just plug and play. Sounds more like the voicemail is not set correctly in the system, should be set to "intergral" in the voicemail tab

i have it set for "embedded". i followed the docs step by step.

ok guys, loading the voice prompts fixed it, thanks. i have another issue.

the greeting for AA has stopped playing. if i call the default short codes *811- *814, the greetings are there.

i have another short code, 102, that is AutoAttendant set for AA:Nite. when i call that, vm answers, plays about 3 seconds of silence, then hangs up. if i dial any of the key strokes, the xfer fine

it played for a while, but has stopped. any ideas?

Only thing I can suggest to to try re-record the prompt and see how you get on.

i already did that. i didnt see a way to delete them. if i put the pc card in mt laptop, can i delete the files there and re record, or will that cause problems?

don't mess with your CF card in a laptop, there are tools and methods to verify, load and update the files on this website, you can find it under your specific software version, then your language, Voicemail Inst, Embedded Voicemail and if you need get Avaya (or your BP) to send you a new card
