I have an IPK system with an ESI-B in S1, a COIB-4 in S2, a SLI-4 in S3 and a FMS-4 in S8. My ESI-B is using ports 1-8 the SLI 9-12 and the FMS-4 is using ports 13-16. I need to add 8 digital ports on the system and i have an ESI-E that will piggyback to the ESI-B. Is there a way to program the ESI-E to use ports 17-24 or i absolutely need to make it ports 9-16? If so that means that i'll need to initialize my switch and reprogram the whole thing because i can't change my S1 assignement in MB7-1 since i only have 1 ESI-B already in S1. I've tried using SAT but in order to make the ports to follow, i need to delete the cards in config and therefore reprogram the whole thing anyway. If any of you guys have any ideas there are more then welcome!

Thanks

You will have to reprogram. If you piggy back the esie card then it will renumber the ports 9-16. bummer.....
when you add on the esie card the switch sees the card card as a totally different package. try renumbering your slt ports to 17-24. then install and program the esie. BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM WITH SAT before you try this.

That's what i thought. I kinda was hoping for some sort of a backway for this but hey! Thank god it's not a huge system!

I thought that in SAT programming, you can move a card by just dragging and dropping the card, and thus retaining all of its programming characteristics (port numbers, etc.)

Why not just drag card from slot 2 to another free slot, and then you can add your daughter board? That way, even if the system resets itself to the new card, you should have consecutive port numbering for your digital ports, No?

Good luck.

New2NEC : I don't need to move any of the cards as the
ESI-E mounts to the ESI-B card. With the SAT software you can move cards to another slot and it will the retain the programming but in my case i need to delete ports 7-16 to get the ESI-E to be able to use those ports. I wish i could tell the SAT to push all the ports by 8 but i tried all i could think of in SAT and it wasn't letting me do anything at all.
Thanks :)
