From the run command I type ipconfig and it the information flashes up on the screen and then quickly disappears. Is there a fix for this?

Thanx

Dick

Try ipconfig /all

It should display all pertinent data without disappearing. Newposter

There is no dos with XP - it's a command prompt as wolluf said.

In windowsxp, go to start, settings, choose network connections and click on it, in the window that comes up, highlight the icon/text that appears, right click, go to proerties, and click. In the window that now appears, place a check make in the box that says "show icon in notification area when connected".
It will appears as 2 small computers and when you place your cursor over them it will say "local area connection, speed *.* mbs.
Right click on this icon, in the menu choose status. In the window that appears go to support and it will show your ip address -- for further information, click on details.
Extremely simple, no fuss, no muss, no bother
