Hi
My desktop can connect to the server but not through internet explorer. I checked ipconfig.txt and it said "an internal error accurred: the request is not supported"
additional information: unable to query host name

I'm using XP
With cmd ipconfig /all
I get "an internal error occurred: the request is not supported.

Are you an administrator? If so, can you create another admin account and try it from there?

Burt

yes i am
What i found is the my tcpip.sys and tcpip6.sys and so on are no longer there in c:\i386. There was the tcpip.sy_ which i copied and renamed and put them back in but no luck.

How long has this not been working? Hit with a virus/worm? Cracked version? Can you do a System Restore in Administrative Tools-->System Tools?

Burt

It happened about 5 days ago. What is a cracked version? Do i a choice how far back i can do a restore?

Well, you're SUPPOSED to have choices as far as how far you can go back---Windows is supposed to be able to make system checkpoints for System Restore, but I have had it not do that a lot.
A cracked version is an illegal pirated copy of Windows. I am not accusing nor passing judgement, nor is my intention to offend you---a lot of people use cracked versions, and thus there is no Microsoft support---have you tried calling them?
I also answered your other post...

Get to a command prompt and do this before you System Restore...

netsh int ip reset c:resetlog.txt

Of course, the text file of the results will be right on top of C:\
