Greetings.

I just received a 3300 2 days ago and it came with a dect basestation written IPBS2 at the back. I would like to think this is a new type. I have worked on the Ascom one before.
Could someone please help me with information on how to configure this one. I don,t seem to be able to get notes from MitelOnLine.

Please help.

Thank you.

5610?

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

The 5610 will be the handset. Im concerned with the configuration of the master basestation (RFP) which labelled IPBS2. There is no other information on it.

Mitel base is a rebadged version of one used by many manufacturers since it is just SIP over Dect. They can be a bugger to configure as well. Firmware files have to be TFTP'd up but there is not much configuration to do and if its a Mitel one its done through the web page of the unit. The handset will give you the IP address of the base if its in DHCP. If not it may be easier to default it. All docs are on MoL under 5610.

1. In a Dect system of 1Basestation is a Mobility master required?

2. Will the Dect system ever work without a SARI Park?

3. When subscribing a Handset where is the System Name found?

4. If there is no Option 140 which SIP Capabilities do you set on the 3300?

5. What are the general steps to configuring a Dect system to work in brief?

Have read docs on MoL but cant get my head around them.

Is there a part number on the back? IPBS2 will be IP DECT System (re-badged Ascom or Detewe product). Some answers are common:

1. Yes, always a master this is the unit that takes the registration of the handsets and communicates with the PBX (in both cases)
2. If Ascom product then yes. If Detewe then I think you only needed a license if you had 3 or more base stations. However, this is MFD'ed now so if you dont have one you wont get one. Ascom still available and SARI license is only cheap.
3. You need to set up the BS before subscribing a handset
5. Configure the base station with an IP, PBX address & license. Set up handset on PBX. Register the phone to the BS

Thank you for your response. On MCD 6.0 there is no Option 140 documentation says must use SIP Capabilities. What do I have to set.?

The IPBS2 is Ascom and I only have 2 of them so I guess a SARI is not required then.

Here is a not so bright question: How do you tie the SIP Capability to the IPBS2?

When subscribing a Handset where is the System Name found and is it optional?

Yes you do need sari. Q "do I need Sari?" A "if Ascom then Yes"
Have you managed to log into the base station yet?

Yes I can log onto the bstation.

There are issues that I have raised above that you havent addressed. I would be very happy if you respond to them.

Pea123, the reason I have not addressed your questions is because you are jumping the gun. There is no point trying to register a handset until you have the base station configured correctly.

FYI you don't tie a sip capabilities to a bs you tie it to the phones that you create.

I have all of the above sorted out. My only remaining problem is that I cant subscribe the handsets. I have noticed that the handset don't show wireless (radio) signal even when placed right on top of the IPBS2.
I would like to know if there is a config that I might have missed on the IPBS2 to make it give a signal to the handsets.
I know the IPBS2 is OK because it shows a solid blue light and Diagnostics show to be fine.

Hi

I have configured these a couple of times but never configured the 5610 with the IPBS2. I thought that was only compatible with the IP DECT stand. Not really designed to be used as full on DECT because they don't hand off. I have configured the 5603 and 5604s with this.

Once the base is configured correctly there is not really too much involved with registering a handset. How have you setup the subscription method etc?

Regards

My handsets are 5603. Subscription is With AC. I am of the view that even if the handset fails to subscribe it should still show some signal level to mean that it is within the range of a Radio Fixed Part, correct me if I am wrong. My handset show nothing for radio signal. Is this normal?

Do you have a programming cradle for the 5603/4?

From memory, until you tell the phone the PARK of the DECT system during subscription it will not show a signal level.

Is the PARK the same as the SARI that I have entered on th IPBS?

No, the PARK is auto generated after you have entered the SARI.

Thank you. Will be waiting for it.

Managed to subscribe the handsets with the IPBS using With System AC. Now the handsets are saying Log In. What should I do?
