Hi there,
I have an iPAQ3950 for more than one year.
Suddently the SD Card ("Storage Card" directory) disapeared and is now unreachable.
It's not an issue on the SD Card as it runs perfectly on another iPAQ.

Did anybody experienced the same kind of issue ?

Could it be a question of Operating System bug ? And how can I try to fix it ? How can I try to reinstall the SD card reader ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yes, I tried a soft reset, I tried (after backup) a hard reset as well, no more success.

I'm wondering if I could try to do a rom update/upgrade. But what could be the result on the installed sofware and data ?

The only ROM upgrade/update right now is WM2003 (if you already do not have that).

Which SD card are you using? A Sandisk? Have you tried another SD card just to see if you could see that one? Did the card disapper after a software install, or did it just happen?

A hard reset should have taken care of any problems, other that a bad SD card. I know you tried the card in another iPaq, but just for troubleshooting sake try a different card in your iPaq.

The brand name of the SD Card is unknown as it came with a specific application (french Vidal/Medical Thesaurus+pocketPC reader).
It's working in another iPAQ.
I tried to put another SD card, but it is not detected and still invisible.

I used a spray duster suspecting some dust on the contacts, no result.

Thanks for your link to HP forum, it seems to be the same issue as mine without any solution. :(

... I'm not really confident in trying to take a screwdriver and to investigate .... no just kidding.

Really stuck !

This problem is new to me. I have a 3950 with WM2003 and have not had your problem. It almost seems like a driver issue.

Hope there is a solution soon. If not, you could try to re-load the ROM image (at least I think you can).

Anyway, I am going to keep my eye on that forum also to see if there is a solution.

It could be that part of your iPaq is just broken. Hardware isn't perfect, one of the buttons on my brand new Viewsonic has just broken.
