Hello tek-tips,

I am hoping you can help me.

I have tried to get this working myself from the past threads on here but I'm having no joy, hopefully it's something easy you'll see immediately.

9608 handset configured with WAN IP of main system site, ports forwarded on Cisco router (unsure of exact model) as confirmed by IT company. Makes it harder as we're not doing the network equipment for this, but do love a challenge.
We've got a ton working on our own networks with Drayteks, so it's not like we've not done this before.

System Version - 9.0.300.941

Have tried the NoUser shortcode REMOTE_H323=1800 and had ports changed on router, still no connection.

Hopefully you'll see something obvious; I've only got the trace running for all things H323, not had to troubleshoot one so much so let me know if you need another filter to identify this.

Thanks in advance.

FWIW, I see that you are using 6.2209 software on the 9608. You may want to try a more recent version.

Thank you, gwebster.

Managed to get the Firmware up to 6.3116 but can't seem to get it any higher; have the latest FW (6.4-odd) on the Manager PC with the system pointing to this for upgrades.

Is there anything else you could suggest?

Did you checked the remote worker option for the user?
Did you check the H.323 remote worker on the wan port?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi, tlpeter, thanks for your response.

Yes, all remote worker/extn enabled on the port VoIP settings and against the user and extension.

Their IT company are making another change so I'll be testing it again today. Appreciate all the input thus far.

Could be that port 1720:TCP on the firewall by mistake is set to UDP.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Thank you, Gunnaro.

I've got a list of what they've set up, doesn't appear to match up with what I asked for!
UDP 49152-53247
UDP 1718
UDP 1719
UDP 1720
UDP 5060
TCP 5060
ICMP (said they've opened this up for the device, not sure what ICMP means)
TCP 1720
TCP 5005

Could it be causing issues that 1720 is enabled for both UDP and TCP?

As always, thank you all for your assistance.

ICMP is for Ping and Trace route.

Not sure what happens if both UDP and TCP is enabled on same port, but I'd take the UDP away.

Any H.323 fixup active on the Cisco?

Kind regards

UDP port 1720 is now removed. Everything else still in place port-wise.
All H323 inspection is turned off on the device. Still getting the same thing on Monitor.

Model of Cisco equipment (in case it helps!);
ASA Version 8.2(1)
Device manager 6.2(3)
Hardware ASA 5505

I would have your phone VPN to that ASA instead of port forward through it.

Thank you, nnaarrnn.

I will give this a try; though it is not something I've done before I have read up on the how.

Thank you again to everyone for your responses.

It is the preferred way to do this, way safer.
ASA 5505 is pretty easy to configure, the wizard does most of the job.

Kind regards

Gunnar

If the ASA + IPO are on the same network, and the client is using a Windows DHCP server, have their IT setup the VPN in the ASA, with a couple addresses outside of the regular DHCP range to use as DHCP for your VPN phone(s).

It will be more secure than opening up the IPO to the world, and you'll fight the IT staff less about talk paths and audio issues.

Do you have stun configured on the lan port and if you did what is the outcome?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

RE Stun; it is configured and goes out on port 3478. Returns the correct WAN IP so it would appear that's all set up correctly?

Should be correct.
Then only the router could be the problem.

Hello all,

Thank you all again for your help.

We rebooted the CCU on Friday and the phones are coming up today. I can only assume the changes made by the IT company have worked and a reboot was needed for the system to see it?

Anyway; thanks again!
