Is there a way of factory defaulting the IP500v2, i.e. licence history etc.?

if you mean the firmware lock then No


Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Send it in for repair and the unit will be factory defaulted as a brand new one, unfortunately it is more expensive as a upgrade license.
