Hi,

what is the most affordable IP Office (IP500v2) solution to support 200 users with softphones?

Option 1:
IPO Preferred Edition with 200 Office Worker user licences and to use Avaya Communicator (which comes with Office Worker license).
Is it necessary that all 200 users be registered on Onex Portal for using just Avaya Communicator?
In other words is UC module enough (50 users with enhanced packages supported) or it is necessary to add external server for Onex portal?

Option 2:
IPO Essential Edition and 200 Avaya Softphone Communicator licenses.
Does 200 Communicators requires any server for registering on it?

Thank you in advance,
Nixonmi

If the customer gonna pay for 200 softphones then Preferred Edition wont add that much cost and they'll get presence / IM and Video.

I would rather install a server, price difference on UC and Preferred pays for the server and they all get the same functionality.

200 OXP users with Communicator -> You need Preferred ed. + a beefy external server.

Kind regards

Go for preferred as you will need it.
You cannot use the UCM as it is not powerful enough.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi,

thank you for advices. Does anyone know what is the max of UC users (Office Worker in this case) which is supported by application server (as you said "beefy external server"). I found in the documentation that it is 500 UC users but in one SCN network.

Also if there is also 200 hardphone users, then the migration to Server Ed is necessary (totally 400 users). So I'm thinking that instead of external application server and IP500v2 w/Preferred Ed it will be better to migrate to one small Server Ed server (and keep IP500v2 as gateway). But I can't calculate what Hw/Sw are necessary for this migration (application server, Server Edition license, SCN licenses, VCM channels on IP500v2). It looks complicated and costly [reading]

Kind regards,
Nixonmi

Might be a good idea to go Server Edition.
Doing this on regular 500v2 could become just as expensive.

(Think about concurrent VM ch, SCN ch, users being moved from one site to the other...)

I like the Dell 320, put in >32 GB RAM, SAS discs, dual PSU.
They are really cheap nowadays, and I find the quite reliable.

A sigle server can take on 1500 users, and 300 concurrent OneX sessions, IIRC.
Not sure if you even need an expansion, depends on what kind of phones you are deploying and local trunks.

Kind regards

Gunnar
