IP500v1 R5 to R7 to use 95 Series Handsets 1

Hi all, looking to upgrade a old IP500v1 to R7 to use 95 series handsets on. Is this possible ? Is just a R7 upgrade license needed ? Whats the latest version you can upgrade a IP500v1 to ?

According to the latest available matrix from Avaya the IP500 V1 will go up to R8.1

Yes you will need an upgrade license.

9.0 is the highest you can take a v1 system. Usually though when we upgrade customers through 9 we also sell them a chassis upgrade

95xx phones suck on earlier releases, all sorts of firmware issues. I would go to R8.1 at least, R9 even better

Great help guys, am I right in thinking if I buy an R9 license and go to 8.1 first, make a call I get the virtual essential license ? Just looking to keep costs down for now.

personally I would recommend getting the license otherwise you will loose it if you have to replace the chassis (the supply of Pre 8.0 systems will dry up eventually)
