Hi,
I just got a new IP500, and I'm trying to hook up the 16 ports IP400 DS, and it doesn't seem to be able to see it. I have the license for IP500 pro which is installed and valid. I connect the DS and reboot all the units, then I go in the upgrade menu, and I see only the IP500, when I try to add manualy, by clicking New Control Unit, it doesn't see it either.

Config:
IP500
Version 4.0 (5)
16 ports IP400 DS

License
IPPRO
VMPRO
6 VM ports

Thanks

Make sure the DS unit is powered and has a green light on the front and then restart the IP500.

Have you got the IP500 working?? Have you upgraded it from out of the box 4.0.0>4.0.5

I have an IP400 DS16 on my IP500 with no problems

If not done, upgrade the IP500 by itself without the other unit even connected. then go forward.

Hi,

The IP500 have been upgraded from 4.0.0 > 4.0.5, without any problems, but I did it without the IP400 DS connected (I did not have the right license at that time). I soon as I got the license, I pluged the IP400 into the system server (IP500), the green light on the DS turn on after it finished is boot sequence. The IP500 have three 8 ports DS card in it with a 4 ports trunk daughter card into each one, for a total of 12 analog trunk line, and they work just fine. I really don't know what's going on :(

I suspect that the DS unit have a really old version in it.

I am assuming the IP500 was off when you plugged in the DS16.

If not, then next time you plug in expansion unit in, do it with the unit off.

Mine worked first time.

You assumed right, the IP500 was off, then I waited to turn it on until the green light on the DS16 was green.

try upgrading it with an 406 or 412
then connect it again and see if it then works

or another thing ,are you using the blue cable that came with the ds unit ?

@tlpeter

When I plug a phone on it, the phone start to boot, but on the 5420 it get stuck on the first screen that says please wait... on the 5410 I see nothing except the three appearance and on a 5402, absolutely nothing happen.

:(

Try connecting the IP400 to Port 2 of the expansion port sockets on the back of the IP500 instead of port 1, where I assume it was originally. Again power both units down. Power up IP400 first wait for green then power up IP500. If still the same you will have to take steps to distinguish if fault is with IP500 or DS module. Try a different DS module connected to the IP500 otherwise you'll have to oblige tlpeter's suggestion and get hold of a 406, 412.

I guess you already tried to switch to another expansion port.
The sys monitor, does it say any thing strange?
It would be nice to know if it works with another IP Office or not.

All Right, I did try to plug the DS into another expension port, but with no result. Here a snippet of the log taken from Monitor

It doesn't list the expansion modules there anyway, only the boards in the IP500 itself ("The Mezzanine")

Hi tlpeter,

I upgraded the IP500 without the DS16, I did not received the license when I updated the IP500 at version 4.05

Chris

just a guess but default it and attache the ds unit to it
