I figured I'd quit lurking and finally join. B-)

I have one of the new IP406 v2 modules. Using Manager 2.1(18), of course.

No documentation specific to unit. [sadeyes] What's the compact flash slot for? Is it for integrated voicemail (Manager has AutoAttendant in config similar to Small Office?) I heard the POTs ports could be configured as trunk ports. Rumor?

TIA! [thumbsup]

1) where did you get hold of V2.1(18)?
2) The IP406 does not have a compact flash slot
3) pots as Trunks? that is a new one on me although thay can be made to dial ddi digits as DTMF tones when answered

IPGuru it sounds to me like Johnny here has been back... to the FUTURE! He's gotten ahold of the next version of the 406 hardware!

Seriously do you really have a 406 with a compact flash slot in it? I think I heard a whispy kind of rumour about something like that coming, kind of like a legend you don't really believe... but I didn't think there were any actually out there yet.

Are you sure someone didn't write "IP 406" on a SOE with a permanent marker? ;-)

Peter

yeah the CF slot is for compact flash, and having one one your nice new 406 means you're a field trial site - so careful, you may be breaking the "non disclosure agreement" somebody signed.

Meantime that slot is meant for embedded voicemail but I don't know if the same card as used for the Small Office will work.

POTs as trunks, yes but not really (ie. not if connecting to a real carrier). I have the POTS on a Small Office going into the Analog trunks ports on my 403 in order to simulate incoming calls (dial 201 on the SOE and the call for that extension arrives at the 403). It works but the disconnects sometime get lost and circuit stays up after the call has ended until one or other box has been powered off. So I'd say yes for lab test/benchwork only.

Embeded VM on a system the size of an IP406 seems to be a bit pointless but the WiFi card could be an interesting addition.
I am looking forward to seeing this new model of IP406 when it arives

The 406 v2 does have a CF slot. Note the v2 in my initial post. It's not a SOE. It's considerably bigger. ;-)

I did finally get docs and did find that the CF slot is for voice mail. Whether or not it's a proprietary card (like the Partner uses PCMCIA cards, but not really) or if I can just pop in any ol' CF, I don't know yet as I don't have a CF to pop in.

As for the POT's as Trunks. Nope. Just a rumor. :-(

I will say no more to avoid risk of breaching an NDA. ;-)
