i am reading conflicting information about the compatibility of using an IP400 Phone (V1) module with a IP500 (V2) control unit. I am reading that it is compatible and that it is not. Does anyone know? Is it only compatible for example up a certain software level. I am using 8.0. Metroline Direct says the following:

IP400 Phone 8 V1 Features
Provides an additional 8 Plain Ordinary Telephone (POT) ports for use with analog telephones
Compatibility
IP403, IP406 V1, IP406 V2, and IP412
IP500 running R4.2 or earlier; Professional Edition is required
IP500 running R5.0 or higher
IP500 V2 running R6.0 to R9.0; not supported on R9.1 or higher

I tired installing it on a (V2) but it would not work.

Thanks

Upto R9.0 all IP Office 400 hardware is supprted, from 9.1 and higher only the IP 400 DS/Phone V2 and ATM expansion modules are supported.

Thank you. One more quick question. Does the AVAYA IP Office 500 700417207 have Embedded Voice Mail? I noticed that there is a slot in the back marked C/F TII which is usually used I believe on the IP400 series in the front to insert a Voice Mail card. I was not sure if all 500 series cabinets came with Embedded VM standard. Thanks you!

The IP Office 500v1 does not come with embedded VM, there is a separate embedded VM compact flash card to buy.
