we have a site that gets its calls over ip trunks
they used to have their own but now all calls come over the link

can we change cos to make ip trunk calls ring with external ring cadence

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Not sure but 2 options I would try.
System Option - "Ringing Cadence for Tie Line Calls"
and
COS - "External Trunk Standard Ringback

If you are using Direct IP for the IP Trunks you assign COS options via COS 100
If you are using ICP/PBX IP Trunks, the COS is assigned via the XNET Trunk Profile assigned to Trunk Attributes with assigned COS

I agree With Sarond that COS option External Ring Cadence should do the trick.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

no good

cos for fax reads that it changes the external ring to internal

External Trunk Standard Ringback
Select "Yes" to return a single ring cadence on a trunk. Enable this feature when a trunk is used for modem dial-in access as the external double ring cadence is often detected as a busy by the modem.
Enable for Tie trunks to override the Ringing Cadence for Tie Line Calls setting in the Display of DASS OLI/TLI information requires that the ANI/DNIS field be enabled. form.

Tried both settings both ways and neither made a difference

looks like we are stuck with single ring for IP trunk calls

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

If you route the call to the NuPoint, and you route it back to let's say, a ring group(500) on the mivb, you could do so with e.g a blind transfer destination: 8*500
In your mivb, you then create a direct IP route and absorb the 2 first digits (the 8, and *). This way the phones in your group will ring with external cadance and not internal
