Hi Guys,

I have an ext 2344 (9630 IP Phone), this extension is registered to Network Region 1. I'm also using NICE perform 3.1 for my call recording. IP to IP is disabled on my Network region 1 so that all of my phones will utilize my TN2602 Medpro.

On this extension that i mentioned on page 2, I have an option of "IP to IP Connections:"

What is the purpose of this feature on the phone station form? If i register this to Network Region 1 that has IP to IP connection was disabled, which is the rule takes precedence or which rule will the phone will follow? is it the option on the Network Region or on the Phone itself?

The fields on the station form are to provide you a way to be more restrictive for cetain stations without having to block the entire network region.

So suppose you dont want all phones to behave this way just a few ... then you leave the network region ip-ip alone and restrict just the phones in question.

Hmmmm... a bit confused.

Let say I have the network region i mention above, and i have station A and Station B. My station A (on page 2) the IP to IP is enabled and Station B is the otherway around. How does each station behave?

unless both station have "Direct IP-IP Audio Connections?" stroked to a 'y', they will not try and direct connect (IP phone to IP phone), but instead will both go through the VoIP Module/Media Resource.

It is obviously more efficient to have the IP phones communicate to each other directly, rather than involve the VoIP Module/Media Processor, since it doesn't take a resource and is more efficient. However, if your phones don't have the correct Default Gateway, for example, they may not be able to directly talk to each other.

Hi Mitch,

"unless both station have "Direct IP-IP Audio Connections?" stroked to a 'y', they will not try and direct connect (IP phone to IP phone), but instead will both go through the VoIP Module/Media Resource." -- i think it should be the other way around right? If both stations have IP to IP enabled on the station it will perform IP to IP and not utilize the DSP. Its not logical if they will perform hairpinning like what u said.

If the Direct IP-IP Audio Connections field is y (yes), but during registration the endpoint indicates that it does not support audio shuffling, then a call cannot be shuffled. If the Direct IP-IP Audio Connections field is n (no), but during registration the endpoint indicates that it can support audio shuffling, then calls to that endpoint cannot be shuffled, giving precedence to the endpoint administration.

Hi Mitch,

When you say, "If the Direct IP-IP Audio Connections field is y (yes), but during registration the endpoint indicates that it does not support audio shuffling,"

this line means what? --- "but during registration the endpoint indicates that it does not support audio shuffling," --- During registration? What kind of registration if my IP phones are already registered? Is this other term for "callsetup/transfer/hold?
