i have existing site 1 with cisco router/ cisco firewall and IP406 and site 2 with same but no IP406. Existing vpn over Public Internet via DSL.

apart from the set up of the IP Hardphones themselves at site 2 what would need to be configured on IP406 at site 2? (v2.0)

I am hearing from supplier that i need vpn tunnel using avaya vsu units but surely all that is required is already in place?

Yes, everything is in place. I have done the exact same with Netopia, Multitech and other routers. Program the 406 the same way you would if the hardphones were on the local lan. As for the hardphones, just make sure you give it appropriate values for router, etc.

All the vsu units do are create a VPN tunnel for you (they do have QoS capability though, so should your cisco units)
