We have a client that wants to use an excel spread sheet with a list of 10 digit values to make out bound calls using ip softphone. is there any avaya software that will recognize 7 or 10 digits and auto dial with a click on the softphone?
Cell phones do this so I'm thinking it has to be doable.

You need 3th party software for that.
But you can use one-x portal for selecting the number and then dail it.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

For the one-x portal idea the numbers would need to be imported into a directory? I was hope to find something that would not require importing and exporting. The directory seems kind of permanent.

With one-x portal as long as you set up the hot key option in the call assistant, you can just highlight a number, hit the hotkey and the dialling will happen.

Looking through the knowledge base i do not see anything for "Call Assistant" in 6.0 (14) I do see it listed as What's new in 6.1. this client is using One-X portal 6.0(33) and IPO ver. 6.0(14). Looks like he will need to upgrade to 6.1 to accomplish this task. Maybe third party is the way to go? Does anyone know who well the hot key call assistant works. I do not what to recommend an upgrade if it is clumsy.

It works very well.

Is anyone using Hot Key call assistant in ver.6.0? I do not want to recommend an upgrade if there is a 6.0 version what will work.

Thanks for all the quick replies.

It works quite well not very well, many websites put spaces in their numbers like 0191 123 456 then it doesn't work as it tries to dial spaces :)

Will One-X Portal 6.1(17) work on an IPO unit running v.6.0(14). I think i might be making it more complicated that it really is. I just need to upgrade the One-x portal software to 6.1 and leave the IPO v.at six??????????? anyone... anyone... (little Ferris Bueller)

The call assistand does not work in 6.0
The 6.1 1xp does not work with 6.0

I did make it more complicated. Im going to install one-x portal 6.1(17) and be happy. 6.1(17) will work with any IPO ver 5 or higher. Thanks for all the help.

It does not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I side with tlpeter. I indavertently configured a 6.0 IPO to register to a 6.1 OXP server during the 6.1 field trials. It didn't work, and filled up 220GB of hard drive space with errors and log files within 48 hours. Good thing it was a lab/demo system

WOW. You saved the day tlpeter. I almost pulled the trigger. OK so upgrade the IPO to ver. 6.1 (something) with the needed upgrade lic. Will do. then upgrade the OXP to 6.1 and i should get the "Call Assistant" feature.

Last question. Is there an upgrade path for going from OXP v.6.0 to OXP 6.1 or do i need to backup the DB, un-install OXP 6.0 and reinstalled OXP 6.1....

Always make a backup!

But you can just upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1 with everything.
Do not try to activate the call assistand in 6.0 because it will brake your 1XP!!!
How many extensions do you have?

Then you can go for the small upgrade license which is about 99 dollars.
