Does anyone know if its possible to print directly to an IP printer in windows 98. The printer is on a HP JetDirect print server and windows 2000 printers can print to it but I only be able to print from 98 by setting up a queue on a 2000 pc and sharing it, but I don't want to have to rely on the 2000 PC being on or working to be able to print.

Thanks
Harri

It is most certainly possible. I just this morning configured an IP printer in Win 98. Just make sure that you add a new port. Then select the Jetdirect port. That should work. If you still have problems try pinging the Jetdirect on its IP. If it pings it should be OK. If not then you have to check your network settings.

I had to use the Network Printer Wizard that was downloaded from HP's (er, I mean HP-Paq or is it Com-P?) website. The downloaded file was named ja255en.exe - after using that I was able to add an IP printer port.

Thanks guys, downloading it now!
