Hi all

Pls pardon my inquiry, can anyone provide an explanation on why an ip phones are being deregister once cisco switch was replaced. We need to manually enter each extension number after the said switch replacement.

Thank u

Typically the phones cache the login info and would auto register back in. Was the switch config correct when it was put online... perhaps the phones couldn't find a registration point for a length of time and then sat at a login prompt.

Was the switch a PoE switch? If so then the phone would have lost the last login information.

We uploaded the same switch config with the new one.

The switch is not poe.

Thank you so much for your inputs.

So the phones never lost power but lost their ability to reach anything on the network. Like WPetelli said they give up and reset after a while.
