Just wondering what everyone is using as far as IP Desktop Phones. We have Nortel Network phones but with the Avaya buyout just curious what is out there.
We have 2004, 2002, 1140, 1120, 1230, 1220 phones.
2004 and 2002 take more desk space (wider than others).
1140 and 1120 are good but expensive.
1230 and 1220 can only show 9 digits of stored AutoDial numbers.
1230 (1220, 2002, 1120 as well) can only show one line of calling party's info at a time. You need to arrow up and down to see the all. You can choose to see the name or number first though. It is the tradeoff of its 20 programmable keys for 1230.
Avaya/Nortel no longer sells the 2001/2002/2004. You will see lots of people selling them but be very careful what you buy since there are multiple generations of the 2002/2004.
I am assuming all of those then would be refurb phones then. Those 1140s are 350 per phone and right now we use 3903/3904 and they arent nearly that expensive. What version of the 2000 series would you recommend?
If you are considering buying second hand 2002 and 2004P2's make sure that they have not had manually configured VLAN information entered.
I am currently in a situation where we used about 20 phones for our DR tests. Manually configured all of them with a unique VLAN. After the test had finished, we were unable to use the auto assigned VLAN configuration.
With our desks being very fluid, phones move to new locations on a regular basis and therefore the VLAN's have to be changed every tme they move.
Even though you can change it back to auto assign VLAN it still looks at the previously configured information.
Unless anyone has recently updated the firmware of their phones and has a workaround solution?? We are currently on 604DCJ.
