Has anyone had any luck or tried having IP Phones on an IP office, failover to Avaya CM in the case of IP office control unit failing?
Our company is looking at installing an IP office instead of a gateway.

not going to happen the phones have different firmware for the different platforms.

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

Thanks Monty. I appreciate the answer. Of course we have an Avaya Rep telling us that all would be good. I know I needed an answer from someone telling th truth.

Chief0222, you will need to install a branch gateway or on 9.0 the IPO as gateway.
But you will need to have matching firmware anyways.
But the IPO as a gateway is an option.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

TBH a G430 as a gateway is probably as cost effective...

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

You can actually do the reverse. SIP phones running off an Aura system can fail back to run off an IP Office "Branch".
