We have installed a BCM on a private island in the Caribbean, currently there are 6-7 phones in the admin office (i2004) which are working great. The second stage however is to install phones into 10-12 Condo's on the island which all communicate back to the Admin office via a WiFi link.

I can take a phone from the admin office to a Condo and it connects back to the BCM however no voice is carried. I have detailed below the results of some testing, have tried different switches and have not resolved the issue. I know this is a strange setup, however would welcome ANY assistance.

'LAN Calls' - Two phones tested in admin office: Dial tone - Yes, Handset Ring tone - Yes, Destination Rings - Yes, Inbound Ring tone - Yes, Voice - Yes, no issues

'Intercom Calls' - Calls from house to Admin office over wireless network: Dial tone - NO, Handset Ring tone - NO, Destination Rings - Yes, Inbound Ring tone - Yes, Voice - Yes, no issues

'Outside Calls' - Calls from house to outside number over wireless network: Dial tone - NO, Handset Ring tone - NO,
Destination Rings - Yes, Inbound Ring tone - Yes, Voice - NO, vacant line, stays open but no voice carried

Sounds like an IP routing issue to me. Is the wireless on the same subnet? Can you ping the BCM from the condos?

I'm willing to come down for a few weeks and troubleshoot. :) A little time in the Caribbean sounds good right about now.

Unfortunately it's taking me what seems like weeks to troubleshoot... Anyway I can ping the BCM from a condo, am working on this right now. Also I can't see roting being an issue as I can make calls within the island to other phones and voice does carry (no dial tone which is a nuisance), also the phone connects to the BCM OK.

What type of WiFi equipment are you using? Higher end stuff like the WLAN series or more home grade stuff (Dlink or Linksys)?

Remembering that WiFi is a shared media, you're going to find this solution could be less than satisfactory. Provide some details (equipment, subnets etc) and maybe we can help you with a best case between us.

The Wireless system used is a proprietary wireless system, which is definitely higher end equipment. The antennas all talk on a 10 subnet (mesh configuration) and the condo's have private 192.168 addresses. There is no firewalls or NAT or other restrictions on the wireless setups, we have an older VOIP system (phasing out) that uses Multitech MVP 130 equipment which has always worked. Incidentally the existing wireless system is a Wave Wirless SPEEDLAN system, we also have Cisco VOIP phones using this without issue on another island nearby. Interestingly why would Condo - Office calls have voice but not Condo - External (the incoming lines all terminate into the BCM, as these all use same wireless signal.

Hope that all helps.

I may be missing something here, so please oblige me while I restate some facts:

1. i2k4 to i2k4 or BCM in office environment: same subnet, no issues.

2. i2k4(condo) to i2k4/BCM (office): different subnets, communication w/BCM is fine (including to the PSTN) and calls setup, but not set to set?

3. i2k4(condo) to i2k4(condo): different subnets, calls setup but no voice ?

If I got the scenarios right, then you have routing issues. This is why you have signalling, but not voice path. If I got the scenarios wrong, please correct me.
