I have a multi site installation,

Site A:

Primary Site Main CM 6.3, Avaya Midsize template with CM,SysM,SM,AES,Utility,Presence -HP dl 360 server
S8300 LSP
ip-net reg 1 with S8300-Site A as LSP
ip-net-map set
recovery rule set
G 450 gateway
DHCP for phone from CISCO router option 242 set with Primary CM ip
MGC list set with Primary and secondary IP

Site B
S8300 LSP
ip-net reg 2 with S8300-Site A as LSP
ip-net-map set
recovery rule set
DHCP for phone from CISCO router option 242 set with Primary CM ip
MGC list set with Primary and secondary IP
g 450 gateway

Site C

S8300 LSP
ip-net reg 3 with S8300-Site A as LSP
ip-net-map set
recovery rule set
DHCP for phone from CISCO router option 242 set with Primary CM ip
MGC list set with Primary and secondary IP

Sites Connected via VPN
All LSP are registed and taking translations.
g430 gateway

When connection with primary CM is lost phones are connecting to local LSP without issues
When primary CM is down phones in main Site registering with main site LSP

Issues:
When connection between main site is lost all phones in remote site register with the lsp in that location and when the connection comes back they register back with primary CM at this time the phones in main site are hanging, issue only with some phones, all phones are 16xx and 96xx series with same firmware. If we disconnect and reconnect they start working again without any issues.
Some time enable mg recovery also solves this issue.

I would like to know why the phones are hanging when the link between sites are up after a failure , they are showing Discover 192.x.x.4 which is the Primary CM in main site in the same network region and accessible

iam happy i am here...

How many handsets per site?

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Main Site around 100 phones

LSP sites 10-20 phones

Phones with same model and firmware but some works some wony.
So i dont think its related with firmware

need to look on the logs for this , but try a server interchange between primary and secondry also do a list trace ras ip-station to see if you get any obvious differences from working and not , same settings file used for all phones etc ???

Do you have your backup services configured in the ip-network-region's for both sites?

AS Randy suggests answers that , but why would enable mg recovery work if these phones are registered to lsp`s.....sometimes!!!(it works i mean) are theses sets plugged into the same network switch , also what are your recovery settings and timers set to on your core and other gateways??

Backup server details are entered correctly ...
phones connected to same switch connected to same core switch , i wonder why they are searching for the primary server which is in the same location.

how to use list trace ras ip-station on a working and non working station?
Please advice

so are all the phones even the good ones connected to the same switch data not phone,

l trace ras ,press f5 use it on all sorts , thats more of a red herring i think just something for you to play with ... you can use that command to see things registering to your core ..or not

when you say backup details are entered correctly ....where exactly and what ??

This may just be simple network routing your switches have lost contact with the core the phones are connected to the switches and you give them a kick and they work again ....similar sometimes with "get forced ipsi takeover" or whatever.

You need to try to gather logs (ipevents)when this happens and sanity check your config with recovery rule ...... again do all phones use the same 46xx settings file.

are you sure its only phones in the core location that hang .... thats how i have read the post ??

by backup details i meant that the LSP name is entered in the backup server list, aall phone have same settings file, firmware are the same.
recovery rule is set correctly, why they are searching the primary CM? Phone becomes totaly hanged ...buttons dont work , only option is disconnect and reconnect
