Hi

I have a question regarding IP Phones and the IP Addresses they use. Do the softphones use the same address as the client computer they are installed on? and what about the I2002/2004 models? I would guess those would use a different IP Address when linked to the pc. The phones would be using DHCP, but we just need to know this for the rollout of the phones.

Thanx

Hi

Softphone uses same ip as client, I2002 needs its own ip.

For the I2002, I2004's we use full DHCP and a virtual subnet for the phones. The PC's resolve normally on their subnet.
We config to auto negotiate as well and all has worked fine for both the sets and the PC's.

FYI if you go with any I1140e sets and set to auto negotiate you will have to punch down all 4 pairs or the sets will not come up.
