IP phone Registration problem BCM1000 1

I am installing 4 ip phones which I have done a few times before although this system seems to be of an older version BCM 2.5 the problem is it gets so far then
when I plug the phone in, it says "Registration is Disabled."

I find the area in the BCM where you turn the registration setting to ON, but every time I change it to ON and go back to that setting, it is turned to OFF again. I cant seem to change any setting on that screen.

Can anyone please help?

check-enable registration
then leave the password blank
get out of that screen and try registering phone now.

Sounds like you're having a java problem with your browser. Try making the change from a different PC. Release 2.5 doesn't always play well with the new Java runtime engines. Or, go under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and uncheck Use Sun Java 1.X. That might work as well.

Got it sorted it was a JAVA problem. Had to down grade java to 1.3.1 2004 version i think and it allowed me to make the changes!!!

Just wanted to follow up on this for future reference.

There is an issue with switching the Registration to on because;
A popup window basically warning that a restart will be necessary does not show up using Sun Java. Without the window, you cannot confirm the change.

To the technician, he's doesn't have a clue that something is NOT happening that should be, because the window simply never appears.

Un-selecting sun java as mentioned by biv343 should work, as when you access the bcm through I.E. the next time, it will automatically download the java files from the bcm.
