There really isn't a check list - at least I don't have one!
Changing the station type from a digital type (say 6408) to IP (9608) via Site Administration is pretty straight forward: CM wipes out all the programmed buttons so you'll have to enter them again. Hopefully you don't have too many custom setups!
If you have System Manager I suggest getting familiar with Templates. You can create a phone template complete with station type and all the buttons. Changing Users is as simple as Editing the User Profile and assigning a new template. Without System Manager... well, that will be a lot of typing. Maybe someone else has a better answer.
Physically changing out phones isn't too bad, either. Do you have Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) switches? If yes, you can power the phones directly. If not, you'll need to buy power injectors. Hopefully everyone has at least CAT5 cabling. I've seen CAT4 (yes, FOUR! The horror, the horror!) but that was replaced, just not quick enough.
The IP sets can use a web server for retrieving new firmware and for storing and retrieving backup files (call logs, etc). By default, 9600 series phones use DHCP Option 242 to get their basic information, such as Call Server and the web server address so have your network team configure that for you. You can probably find examples by searching the forum but if not, I can post a template.
Thank you for the reply. We do have System Manager, I have not used the template option. I can use a template for updating a current station? I do have several stations but a lot of them are customized.
