CS1000e release 5.0 combination IP and digital phones. When someone joins an AT&T conference bridge users on the digital phone here the beep alert, users on an IP Phone do not hear the beeps. This is a big issue because you can't tell if someone joined or dropped from the call if you are on an IP Phone.

The IP phones are 1120/1140 and have the latest firmware.

Thanks

Strange because the tone is coming from the ATT bridge and it should be audible to all parties. There is a command under CLS called WTA, warning tone allowed, but I think this is only relating to barge in feature.

I had thought of that and double checked, it's WTA by default. I've looked through the rest of the CLS and don't see anything really different between the 1120/1140 and a 3904.

Assuming you are using a digital trunk to AT&T, the speech/tone is being converted to IP by the MGC card and then sent to the IP Phone.

If you are really adventerous, sniff the packets being sent from the MGC to the IP Phone, extract the voice packets and convert it to an audio file, and see if the beeps are audible. That will help to determine whether they are disappearing at the TDM<->IP conversion (the MGC) or the IP<->voice conversion (the IP Phone).

And to throw another 'geek' tip in, if you happen to be able to actually record them, try to determine the frequency level of the tones. Maybe they are so high they are being clipped out somewhere?

Another test, from a digital set that is actually hearing the tones, have them transfer the call to an IP phone and see if you still hear them.

I agree with GW, they are generated from outside of your PBX, and therefore should be audible by any station.

well the site is 2 hours away so I'm not going to be able to sniff the packets unless I get a chance to be onsite.

They are digital trunks (ISDN PRIME)to AT&T. Anyone else have any suggestions.
