We are running 3.1 CM with 96XX phones. We have IPTel Server running and would like to use the telephone backup feature. I programmed into the 46xxsettings.txt file under backup/restore files/avaya/mv_iptel/backups where backups is a directory I created for the backup files. When I try to initiate a backup manually from the phone it fails. Uh, why? I see in the server it states it gets a HTTP PUT message but doesn't really say anything else. Any ideas?
Thanks

trying to backup 4621SW sets - All sets are 2.8 FW-
setup iis - per the docs -

Create a “backup” folder under the root directory of your Web server. All backup files will be
stored in that directory.
For example, if your backup folder is C:/Inetpub/ the 46xxsettings.txt file
should have a line similar to:
[SET BRURI ]
If your backup folder is the root directory, the 46xxsettings.txt file should have a line similar
to:
[SET BRURI ]
2. Use Internet Information Services Manager or Internet Information Services depending
on your OS. Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools.
3. Right click on the folder created for backup, or right click on Default Web Site if there is no
specific backup directory.
4. Select Properties.
5. In the Directory tab, make sure the Write box is checked.
Additional step for IIS 6.0 (Win2003):
1. Use Internet Information Services. Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel -->
Administrative Tools.
2. Below Default Web Site select Web Services Extension.
3. Make sure the WebDAV option is set to Allowed.

change my 46xxsettings file as such :

SET RESTORESTAT 1
SET FTPUSERSTAT 1
## SET FTPSRVR 192.168.90.2
## SET FTPDIR 192.168.90.2
SET FTPSRVR 192.168.90.2
SET BRURI SET MCIPADD 192.168.80.200

what am I missing - SET RESTORESTAT 1 should say restore setting everytime one logs into Phone ?

Since this is usuing http - should I ## all FTP options
as I thought 2.8 allowed HTTP rather then FTP with the 46xx sets

tried using my IPTEL Mamanger without much luck - thought maybe per post it may be easier to do this option

cheers: )

I have finaly been able to get both 46XX and 96XX phones using the IPTEL Manager for both file transfers and backup and restore.

All our phones are at firmware versions 2.8 and 1.5

I am set for both the basic + fileserver on the IPTEL application.

Here are the changes I made to my 46xxsettings file.
SET SNMPSTRING PUBLIC
SET BRURI SET RESTORESTAT 1

And here is a copy of the IPTel boot log wich I think reflects the configuration of the IPTEL application.

Good job. We'll have something to refer to now so we can get it to work on our 96XXs.
Thanks!!

Question, your PhoneBackup directory is a subdirectory of..?

C:\Program Files\Avaya\MV_IPTel\data\HTTPdata\PhoneBackup

I am trying this same thing, with IIS.

i have the IIS server set to use port 81, because Appache is also installed on this server for the VoIP Monitor Manager.

I have the backup directory created, I put a file in it, and I can read it. The 46xxsettings.txt file has been modified, and when I try the "manual backup" from the 9630 phones, I get:

HTTP Authentication
Realm: LIBUser ID:
Password:

and the phone is asking me to login to the HTTP server...
Anonymous logins are already allowed, anyone have any ideas, or seen this is the past?

I have followed the instructions to make sure WebDAV option is allowed, and I am allowing "write" on the backup directory.

Thanks,

mitch

Found the answer:

Go into IIS manager
Click on "Web Sites"
right click on "Default Web Site". then left click on "Permissions"
click on "Internet Guest Account"
Click on "Full Control"

you are now done, the phones will no longer ask to login to the web server to wrtie the XXXX_96xxdata.txt files :)
