When you make a call with an IP phone, does the phone make a direct connection to the MedPro or does the audio go the the CLAN first and then to the MedPro.

Thanks!

actually neither.

the CLAN is for call control only, it TDM buss to IP UDP packets

So, the phone is "registered" to the CLAN, which controls/listens to requests from the IP phone, the IP phone also communicates with the MEDPRO/Media Processor via UDP packets for actuall VoIP audio. The IP phones can also be directed to connect to other IP phones directly, IP to IP, via UDP packets as well, so you don't always have a MEDPRO/Media Processor involved in every call.

I have an LSP in a remote location going through a firewall and some NAT-ting (its a customer location with a different ip range!) and although the handsets register and there is speech, the medpro stays when I status the station. SHould the Medpro drop when the call is IP and set in the main site to IP handset on the remote site? Just checking?

It depends on where the source of the call is, if the source is a PRI on the remote gateway (where the handset is located), the Medpro doesn't need to be involved, if the source of the call is a PRI/T1 in a different gateway/location, then yes, the Medpro will need to be involved.

Check your handset firmware and CM versions. NAT'ing not supported really (I think 3.1 handset CM5 now does).
Get the routers and switches to spoof the NAT'ing
if not.
