I have deployed IP Phone Administrator version R1F. The functionality of this application is very limited. It only seems to display whether an IP phone is logged on or not, the IP address, MAC address, model and rev number. It hardly appears worthwhile installing the application with this very limited functionality. I expected to be able to "administer" the phones using this app as the name implies. Am I missing something here?

Hello,

Isn't there possibility to press on the IP address to get into phone's window where you can manage contacts, change settings such as log off restriction and so on?

the only "advantage" that IP Phone administrator has, is that it can see phones that are not logged on. clicking on the phone entry will open a webpage to the phone.

Another advantage is that you can restrict the ability to log off, very useful for voice recorded phones.

Thanks Simonas but you can restrict the log off capability in the config file. Apart from showing all the devices on one screen and showing their logon status, it really doesn't do very much, and in my opinion is not worth the effort of the install.

Ip Phone administrator is only used for TSW PBX's where system administrators want to see ALL the IP phones they have (can't do this from MD prompt).
In TSE, the same tool built-in in eri_om.

I am trying the IP Phone Administrator with on a PC connected to a router/switch with DHCP and an IP phone. The ip phone (DBC 425) gets an IP address from the router switch successfully but I don't see anything in the IP Phone Administrator screen. It just shows Nothing found to display. Am I not supposed to see the IP phone but just show it is not registered since I have no connection to a PABX?

Thanks in advance.

megglesfield,

the real reason for the IP Phone Administrator is the DBC4220 (look at thread thread806-1596998). This phone has no display, so there is no way to configure/discover the phone.
